It is no secret that owning a cross trainer is a great tool for weight loss. Many people have purchased a cross trainer in an effort to lose weight and have successfully achieved their weight loss goals.  While this is the top reason why people purchase cross trainers, these machines are also popular because they aid in injury prevention.  Runners and other athletes often use them for strength and endurance training because they do not pose the risk that other high impact machines do.  If you are an athlete, consider the following ways that a cross trainer can help you avoid injury.

  • You control your workout. Most cross trainers allow you to be in control of your workout.  By allowing you to control how “hard” your workout is on the machine, the risk for injury is lessened.  You decide exactly how much you do on the machine.
  • Your feet never leave the machine, eliminating the risk for injury. This benefit of a cross trainer is likely the key to injury prevention. Many people injure themselves on machines such as treadmills that require the feet to leave the surface. The fact that your feet can remain in one position during the entire workout is attractive to athletes and those who may have balance issues.
  • Long term use of the machine poses no risk. While exercising will help you fight diseases and improve your health in the future, long term exercise can leave you with problems with your knees and joints. This is especially true is running or other high impact exercise is involved.  Long term use of a cross trainer have little or no risk for future joint or bone problems. Because your body is experiencing low impact on a daily basis, your chances for knee or joint problems in the future decrease.

As an athlete, a cross trainer is a must have. If you are looking for a way to strengthen your body with limited risk to injury, a cross trainer is your answer. Take advantage of the great workouts that you can get from this machine.  Most importantly, avoid injury by being able to control your workout and eliminating your chances for injury from long term use of a machine.  Allow a cross trainer to help bring your performance to the next level without worry about injury.

Losing weight after pregnancy can be a challenge.  Getting rid of the extra weight will take hard work and effort.  A cross trainer can be a great tool to help get rid of the excess weight after pregnancy. Consider the following advice when trying to get fit with a cross trainer after pregnancy.

  • Make sure that you have physically able to begin an exercise program. Before you begin using a cross trainer, or any other exercise routine, make sure that your body is completely healed from the delivery. Doctors recommend giving your body 6 weeks to heal before you attempt any exercise regimen.
  • Begin slowly. As with any exercise, if you are unfamiliar with the cross trainer, you will want to begin slowly.  Beginning too quickly can cause you to get burned out quickly and will not give you the effective workout that you are looking for.  Make sure that you have properly stretched before attempting to use the cross trainer.  This will help you avoid injury and also decrease the soreness that you will feel from working your muscles.
  • Realize that diet AND exercise will be beneficial in losing weight. If you are going to spend time on the cross trainer in an attempt to lose weight, make sure that your diet matches your exercise efforts.  If you are not watching what you eat, you could be using your cross trainer for nothing.  If you want to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you are consuming. This involves watching what you eat and getting a good calorie burn in throughout the day.
  • Incorporate other exercise programs in alongside the cross trainer. It will be difficult to lose the baby weight using only a cross trainer. To see the best results consider changing it up a bit.  Using the cross trainer 3 to 4 times a week and then participating in a different physical activity will give you the best results.

Losing the extra body fat that you gained during pregnancy will not be easy.  Be sure not to get discouraged during the process. Steady use of your cross trainer and a good diet will help you get back to your pre-baby weight.  Use the above advice to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
